Cursussen Graduate School 2012
- Introduction to academic writing in English
- Advanced academic writing in English
- Academic presenting in English
Aanmelden voor bovenstaande cursussen kan bij Marina Pongraz.
Ook wordt via de Graduate School een cursus Multilevel Analysis of Longitudinal Data (MALD) georganiseerd.
Introduction
For multilevel designs, standard regression techniques lead to biased model-parameter estimates and incorrect standard errors. Biased regression parameter estimates typically occur if the subjects were not measured at the same time points (unbalanced data) and if missing observations are involved. In this course, the main emphasis is on linear models with random effects. Special attention will be given on the analysis of longitudinal intervention studies, where the objective is to evaluate some treatment effect.
Learning objectives
- The participant learns how to model and analyze specific longitudinal data.
- The participant learns about the possibilities of SPSS procedures regarding the analysis of longitudinal data.
- The participant learns in practice how to analyze longitudinal data using SPSS procedures.
Content
- Day 1: review fixed-effects linear regression models, examples of multilevel/longitudinal designs, introduction to linear random-intercept models (Morning sessions)
SPSS assignments in the afternoon. - Day 2: Linear random slope and marginal models, basic principles of model building
(morning sessions). SPSS assignments in the afternoon. - Day 3: Longitudinal intervention study, missing data (morning sessions)
SPSS assignments in the afternoon. - Day 4: Full analysis of a longitudinal data example (morning sessions).
Intervision: presentation of own research study in the afternoon.
Total amount of study time to invest: time during the course + 10 hours
Maximum number of participants: 25
A certificate will be obtained after participation.
Please contact the course coordinator for more information.
Target group
All PhD students and researchers involved in epidemiological, social and behavioral research studies. For a fruitful participation in the course, participants should be familiar with linear regression analysis at an intermediate level.
Depending on the interest of the participants, they can present and discuss their own research plan.
Language
The course will be given in Dutch.
When and where approximation (Month)
Four consecutive days in June (18-21), 2012, Stayokay Maastricht.
